Step 1: Booking a Doctor's Appointment
We have 4 options to choose from. All 4 options cost around 50% less than any other provider of medical cannabis recommendations in DC.
Step 2: Submitting Your Application
Applications can be submitted online or with a paper application. We highly recommend submitting your application online, as the ABRA will process your application about 1 week faster.
Get your documents ready
- The electronic recommendation number given after your doctor’s appointment in Step 1
- A headshot (photo of yourself from the shoulders up) on a clear background, without glasses or anything coving your hair. Example headshot
- A photo ID issued by the DC, federal, or other state government. If you have a valid DC drivers license with your current address, it can also be used as a proof of residency.
- 2 proofs of DC residency. List of Accepted Documents on Application Note: Your 2 proofs cannot be of the same type (such as a power bill and a cable bill).
- Proof of low income status (optional)
The copies of these documents submitted should be clear and easy to read. You can take a picture of them with your phone (ok), use a mobile app such as CamScanner(better), or use a scanner/copy machine (best).
Submit your application

You can download and print the paper application here, or stop by MWC and we will give you a paper application to fill out.
To submit your application, visit MWC during business hours with the following documents:

- A headshot (photo of yourself from the shoulders up) on a clear background, without glasses or anything coving your hair.
- A photo ID issued by the DC, federal, or other state government

Once we have your payment and all of your documents, we will drop off your completed application to the ABRA.

Step 3: Paying the ABRA Fee

Before starting an application, gather all the required documents specified in the instructions. Applicants cannot save their progress. Hard copy applications are available at the bottom of this page.
If you submitted your application online, you will get an email that contains a payment link once your application has been approved. Simply click the link and use a credit or debit card to pay your application fee online.
